39.3 MB 51.3 MB The purpose of Tiger Envelopes is to make private email easy, so when it doesn't, please let us know. Remember to treat your messages as if they are not encrypted until the software is well tested.
Every Tiger Envelopes installer contains everything you need to make your email private:
- Tiger Envelopes
- an open source encryption package
- Java for your system
- full source code
If you're a software developer you can download just the source code. Source code is included with every installer, and the installers do a lot you'll have to do by hand. Let us know whenever the docs on installing from source aren't clear or complete.
Verify the file downloaded correctly
IMPORTANT - READ THIS:
To avoid the security risks of centralized key servers, Tiger Privacy does not use them. Your browser will ask you to accept the web site's certificate the first time you access Tiger's web site securely. Until you decide, you will get a warning from your browser.
One way bad guys can hurt you is to replace your software with their own version. They could give you a fake copy of Tiger Envelopes that looks fine, but doesn't protect you at all. You can make it a lot harder for the bad guys to do this by checking file digests. A file digest is just a quick way to check that a file is right. First, calculate the digests on your system for the file you downloaded. Then, verify that they match the Tiger Privacy file digests.
